13 예수께서 들으시고 배를 타고 떠나사 따로 빈 들에 가시니 무리가 듣고 여러 고을로부터 걸어서 따라간지라
When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.

14 예수께서 나오사 큰 무리를 보시고 불쌍히 여기사 그 중에 있는 병자를 고쳐 주시니라
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15 저녁이 되매 제자들이 나아와 이르되 이 곳은 빈 들이요 때도 이미 저물었으니 무리를 보내어 마을에 들어가 먹을 것을 사 먹게 하소서
As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it"s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food."

16 예수께서 이르시되 갈 것 없다 너희가 먹을 것을 주라
Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat."

17 제자들이 이르되 여기 우리에게 있는 것은 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리뿐이니이다
"We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered.

18 이르시되 그것을 내게 가져오라 하시고
"Bring them here to me," he said.

19 무리를 명하여 잔디 위에 앉히시고 떡 다섯 개와 물고기 두 마리를 가지사 하늘을 우러러 축사하시고 떡을 떼어 제자들에게 주시매 제자들이 무리에게 주니
And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20 다 배불리 먹고 남은 조각을 열두 바구니에 차게 거두었으며
They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

21 먹은 사람은 여자와 어린이 외에 오천 명이나 되었더라
The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

■ 내용관찰
세례 요한의 처형 소식을 듣고 빈 들로 떠나신 예수님은 따라온 무리에게 어떻게 하셨습니까?(13~14절)

저녁이 되자 제자들은 무리의 배고픔을 어떻게 해결하려 했습니까?(15, 17절)

■ 연구와 묵상
예수님이 직접 기적을 베푸시기 전에 제자들에게 “너희가 먹을 것을 주라”(16절)고 하신 이유는 무엇이겠습니까?

■ 느낀 점
아무것도 기대할 수 없는 빈 들에서 무리의 필요를 채우시는 예수님을 보면서 무엇을 느낍니까?

■ 결단과 적용
예수님이 생명의 떡이요 참된 공급자이신 것을 믿습니까? 위축된 경제와 취업난 앞에서 한숨쉬며 절망하기 전에 먼저 내가 해야 할 것은 무엇입니까?
