21 이 때로부터 예수 그리스도께서 자기가 예루살렘에 올라가 장로들과 대제사장들과 서기관들에게 많은 고난을 받고 죽임을 당하고 제삼일에 살아나야 할 것을 제자들에게 비로소 나타내시니
From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

22 베드로가 예수를 붙들고 항변하여 이르되 주여 그리 마옵소서 이 일이 결코 주께 미치지 아니하리이다
Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. "Never, Lord!" he said. "This shall never happen to you!"

23 예수께서 돌이키시며 베드로에게 이르시되 사탄아 내 뒤로 물러 가라 너는 나를 넘어지게 하는 자로다 네가 하나님의 일을 생각하지 아니하고 도리어 사람의 일을 생각하는도다 하시고
Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."

24 이에 예수께서 제자들에게 이르시되 누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를 것이니라
Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

25 누구든지 제 목숨을 구원하고자 하면 잃을 것이요 누구든지 나를 위하여 제 목숨을 잃으면 찾으리라
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.

26 사람이 만일 온 천하를 얻고도 제 목숨을 잃으면 무엇이 유익하리요 사람이 무엇을 주고 제 목숨과 바꾸겠느냐
What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

27 인자가 아버지의 영광으로 그 천사들과 함께 오리니 그 때에 각 사람이 행한 대로 갚으리라
For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father"s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.

28 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 여기 서 있는 사람 중에 죽기 전에 인자가 그 왕권을 가지고 오는 것을 볼 자들도 있느니라
I tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

베드로의 신앙고백을 들으신 후, 예수님은 자신이 앞으로 어떤 길을 가야 한다고 제자들에게 알려 주십니까?(21절)

예수님을 믿고 따르기로 결심한 제자들에게 그분은 어떤 삶을 요구하십니까?(24절)

■ 연구와 묵상
십자가 고난과 죽음의 길을 가겠노라 말씀하시는 예수님을 베드로가 만류한 이유는 무엇입니까?(23, 25~26절)

■ 느낀 점
예수님을 구원자로 고백했으면서도 죽음의 십자가 길로 가지 마시라고 항변하는 베드로를 보며 무엇을 느낍니까?

■ 결단과 적용
하나님의 일을 생각하며 기쁘게 헌신하기보다 사람의 일을 생각하며 십자가 지기를 거부하진 않습니까? 내 앞에 놓인 십자가의 길은 무엇인지 생각해 보고, 매 순간 십자가의 길로 가기로 결단합시다.
