12 대저 만군의 여호와의 날이 모든 교만한 자와 거만한 자와 자고한 자에게 임하리니 그들이 낮아지리라
The LORD Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted (and they will be humbled),

13 또 레바논의 높고 높은 모든 백향목과 바산의 모든 상수리나무와
for all the cedars of Lebanon, tall and lofty, and all the oaks of Bashan,

14 모든 높은 산과 모든 솟아 오른 작은 언덕과
for all the towering mountains and all the high hills,

15 모든 높은 망대와 모든 견고한 성벽과
for every lofty tower and every fortified wall,

16 다시스의 모든 배와 모든 아름다운 조각물에 임하리니
for every trading ship and every stately vessel.

17 그 날에 자고한 자는 굴복되며 교만한 자는 낮아지고 여호와께서 홀로 높임을 받으실 것이요
The arrogance of man will be brought low and the pride of men humbled; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,

18 우상들은 온전히 없어질 것이며
and the idols will totally disappear.

19 사람들이 암혈과 토굴로 들어가서 여호와께서 땅을 진동시키려고 일어나실 때에 그의 위엄과 그 광대하심의 영광을 피할 것이라
Men will flee to caves in the rocks and to holes in the ground from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.

20 사람이 자기를 위하여 경배하려고 만들었던 은 우상과 금 우상을 그 날에 두더지와 박쥐에게 던지고
In that day men will throw away to the rodents and bats their idols of silver and idols of gold, which they made to worship.

21 암혈과 험악한 바위 틈에 들어가서 여호와께서 땅을 진동시키려고 일어나실 때에 그의 위엄과 그 광대하심의 영광을 피하리라
They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from dread of the LORD and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.

22 너희는 인생을 의지하지 말라 그의 호흡은 코에 있나니 셈할 가치가 어디 있느냐
Stop trusting in man, who has but a breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?


■ 내용관찰
여호와의 날이 임할 대상은 ‘누구’와 ‘무엇’입니까?(12~16절)

여호와의 날이 임할 때 어떤 일이 일어납니까?(17~18, 20절)

■ 연구와 묵상
여호와의 날에 사람들이 암혈과 토굴, 바위틈에 들어가는 이유는 무엇이겠습니까?(12, 17, 19~22절)

■ 느낀 점
하나님 두려운 줄 모르고 교만한 자, 자기를 위하여 우상을 만든 자와 인생을 의지하는 자의 결말을 볼 때 어떤 생각이 듭니까?

■ 결단과 적용
재물, 권력, 사람 등 내가 주님보다 더 믿고 의지하는 것을 십자가에 못 박읍시다. 하나님의 도움 없이 놀라운 일을 혼자서 해낸 양 거드름 피운 것을 회개하며, 모든 능력과 생명의 근원이신 창조주 하나님만을 높이기로 결단합시다
