1 아모스의 아들 이사야가 바벨론에 대하여 받은 경고라
An oracle concerning Babylon that Isaiah son of Amoz saw:

2 너희는 민둥산 위에 기치를 세우고 소리를 높여 그들을 부르며 손을 흔들어 그들을 존귀한 자의 문에 들어가게 하라
Raise a banner on a bare hilltop, shout to them; beckon to them to enter the gates of the nobles.

3 내가 거룩하게 구별한 자들에게 명령하고 나의 위엄을 기뻐하는 용사들을 불러 나의 노여움을 전하게 하였느니라
I have commanded my holy ones; I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath-those who rejoice in my triumph.

4 산에서 무리의 소리가 남이여 많은 백성의 소리 같으니 곧 열국 민족이 함께 모여 떠드는 소리라 만군의 여호와께서 싸움을 위하여 군대를 검열하심이로다
Listen, a noise on the mountains, like that of a great multitude! Listen, an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together! The LORD Almighty is mustering an army for war.

5 무리가 먼 나라에서, 하늘 끝에서 왔음이여 곧 여호와와 그의 진노의 병기라 온 땅을 멸하려 함이로다
They come from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens-the LORD and the weapons of his wrath-to destroy the whole country.

6 너희는 애곡할지어다 여호와의 날이 가까웠으니 전능자에게서 멸망이 임할 것임이로다
Wail, for the day of the LORD is near; it will come like destruction from the Almighty.

7 그러므로 모든 손의 힘이 풀리고 각 사람의 마음이 녹을 것이라
Because of this, all hands will go limp, every man"s heart will melt.

8 그들이 놀라며 괴로움과 슬픔에 사로잡혀 해산이 임박한 여자 같이 고통하며 서로 보고 놀라며 얼굴이 불꽃 같으리로다
Terror will seize them, pain and anguish will grip them; they will writhe like a woman in labor. They will look aghast at each other, their faces aflame.

9 보라 여호와의 날 곧 잔혹히 분냄과 맹렬히 노하는 날이 이르러 땅을 황폐하게 하며 그 중에서 죄인들을 멸하리니
See, the day of the LORD is coming -a cruel day, with wrath and fierce anger-to make the land desolate and destroy the sinners within it.

10 하늘의 별들과 별 무리가 그 빛을 내지 아니하며 해가 돋아도 어두우며 달이 그 빛을 비추지 아니할 것이로다
The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light. The rising sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light.

하나님이 열국 민족들을 모아 군대를 소집하시는 이유가 무엇입니까?(2~5절)

심판 날에 바벨론이 겪게 될 공포는 어느 정도입니까?(7~8절)

빛이 하나님의 은혜와 자비를 상징한다면, 여호와의 날에 임할 어둠은 무엇을 상징하겠습니까?(10절, 마 24:29; 27:45 참고)

하나님이 마침내 자기 백성의 모든 대적을 멸하시고 하나님의 나라를 세우신다는 사실에서 무엇을 느낍니까?

거룩한 분노를 발하시는 하나님을 볼 때 어떤 경각심을 갖게 됩니까? 하나님의 심판이 없는 것처럼 사는 사람들에게 어떻게 다가가겠습니까?
